MASCOTS FOR NEWSLETTERS

Give your next issue a familiar face.

A recurring character can introduce a newsletter, explain an idea, or celebrate a reader milestone. Keep the mascot consistent while the subject of each issue changes.

Make the moment useful.

Email illustrations need to work inside a narrow reading column and with images switched off. A simple header can establish the recurring character, while a larger editorial scene can explain the issue’s main idea. Nellie’s real CreateMascot examples show both: recognizable poses and complete illustrated stories from one original bird.

01

Keep essential text outside the art

Write the subject, headline, instructions and links in the email itself. Generated lettering can be inaccurate, and readers should still understand the message when images do not display.

02

Choose a scene with a job

An envelope suits a recurring header. For an explainer, choose one concrete metaphor that supports the issue’s idea. Avoid adding unrelated objects just to fill a wide canvas.

03

Check image weight and contrast

Resize and compress the delivered image for the template. Test on mobile and against the email’s background. If the artwork carries information beyond the text, write a short, descriptive alt attribute.

A STARTING POINT FOR YOUR OWN CHARACTER

Try this scene prompt.

Approve your mascot and style first, then adapt this example brief for the scene you need.

Use my approved mascot and brand style. The character holds a single envelope with a warm, attentive expression on the right side of a landscape canvas. Keep its identity and permanent details unchanged. Leave quiet space on the left for an email headline added later. No generated words, logos or decorative clutter.

Compare the result with your approved reference: face, silhouette, colors and permanent details. Generative results can vary; review each illustration before using it.

From illustration to interface.

The Launch Kit includes a newsletter header placement. Add the downloaded image through your email provider, set its display width to fit the template, and include useful alt text where needed. Send yourself a preview to check mobile wrapping and image blocking before publishing the issue.

You receive PNG artwork. Add your own text and controls in your product or design tool; the image is not an editable SVG or a working screen.

A few useful answers.

Can my mascot explain a topic rather than just wave?

Yes. Request a scene with a specific visual metaphor and review its clarity. The Nellie case study includes an information well and an ideas press, both generated through CreateMascot from the same character.

Will CreateMascot send the newsletter for me?

No. CreateMascot generates the illustrations. You download them and build or send the newsletter in your existing email tool.

Same character. Next moment.
